Spilanthes (Toothache Plant)

(Acmella oleracea) – A unique annual herb growing up to 12–18 inches tall, featuring low-growing mounds of dark green foliage adorned with unusual yellow and red cone-shaped flowers. Known for its intriguing appearance and traditional medicinal uses, the Toothache Plant is a conversation starter in any garden.

Water: Prefers well-drained, organically rich soil; keep soil consistently moist but avoid waterlogging
Transplanting: Transplant outdoors after the danger of frost has passed, spacing plants 6 to 12 inches apart.

Note: Chewing the flowers produces a unique tingling and numbing sensation, historically used to alleviate toothache pain. The leaves and flowers are also edible and can add a unique flavor to salads.
