GCN Cinnamon Sugar Roving
Gulf Coast Native roving – small-batch, hand-shorn, scoured and naturally dyed on-farm with our farm grown botanicals before final milling locally.
The roving is carefully shorn, skirted, scoured, and hand-selected in small, seasonal batches by our farmers and students, then naturally dyed here on the farm using our own farm-grown dye stuffs. It is sent to a local mill in Georgia for final de-vegging and carding. The result is a clean, workable roving with all the wonderfully natural characteristics of Gulf Coast wool that we’re proud to produce. It’s well suited for spinning, blending, and felting, making it one of our most versatile fibers.
This roving is made from our own flock of heritage Gulf Coast Native sheep. This breed is on the Livestock Conservation list and is valued for its resilience and diverse qualities. The fiber is classified as medium grade, though we find our flock tends to range on the fine-to-medium side, with the natural browns showing slightly more of the rustic characteristics Gulf Coast sheep are prized for.
