Step 1. Select Your Goodies!
Marigolds produce a rich, bronze-gold shade that leans toward olive or deep moss shades with the addition of iron.
Add the dried marigolds to a dye pot and let the blossoms steep for a few minutes. Then add prepared yarn or fabric and watch the color develop.
You can add the Marigolds to a mesh bag so that they do not stick to the yarn or fabric.
Another option is to strain the blossoms before adding your yarn or fabric. Reuse the dye bath multiple times in order to get lighter shades.
The spent flowers are compostable or perfect for eco-printing.
