Honoring fiber traditions through collective making, learning, and connection

About Us

Founded in 2019, Black Sheep Fiber Circle (BSFC) is a Black Agrarian fiber arts collective hosted by High Hog Farm that supports and preserves Afro-indigenous lifeways through shared practice, belonging, and skill-building. BSFC meets monthly as a collective fiber arts community, offering a welcoming space for makers of all levels to create and explore together.

Gatherings blend open studio time, informal skill sharing, and opportunities to connect with other fiber artists in person. Collectively, we hope to inspire current and future generations of Black, Brown, and Indigenous fiber artists to carry forward the legacy of Black agrarian arts culture.

Black Sheep Fiber Circle was an artist in residence with Gist Yarn’s WEAVE program. Learn how our 12-week project celebrated shared making, community connection, and fiber arts tradition.

Spaces are limited. While all are welcome to apply, priority is given to Black and Indigenous fiber artists, land stewards, and cultural seedkeepers. After you register, we will follow up to confirm your participation or place you on the waitlist.

Will you be able to respect and appreciate outdoor farm and fiber activities?

Are you comfortable participating in co-learning spaces?

This space is an intentional space for people who identify as Black and/or Indigenous. Is this you?

I understand that submission of this application does not guarantee a spot and that I may be placed on a waitlist.

If you membership is not confirmed and still wish to support this work, we welcome donations and in-kind contributions for BSFC and other community-centered programs.
